2009 NFL Mock Draft - Round 3

PICK #65 DETROIT LIONS

The Lions need dependable, quality starters. Eric Wood was a rock and Louisville and will an instant starter in Detroit giving them one more improvement on their offensive line.

PICK #66 ST. LOUIS RAMS

The Rams need a leader on their defense. The middle linebacker is the quarterback of the defense and Gerald Mcgrath is a good one.

PICK #67 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

The Chiefs have a lot of needs. Their defense has some nice players and Orakpo will vastly improve their pass rush. They need a DT to pair with Glenn Dorsey. His old teammate Ricky Jean-Francois is a big time talent who disspeared at times in college. In spite of that, it is impossible to ignore two things. He was huge in big games and it is impossible to ignore how dominant the two of them were as a pair in college.

PICK #68 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

The Seahawks are aging on offense, and they need to find their future at quarterback while Hasselbeck is still around to play tutor. Nate Davis is a well-rounded, athletic talent at Quarterback. He didn't play against the best competition, but he made some plays that showed his talents.

PICK #69 DALLAS COWBOYS

The Cowboys have lost a lot this off-season from their defensive secondary. They need a cornere good enough to step into the rotation from day 1. Victor (Macho) Harris is a tough minded athlete at corner who tackles well and will also be a boon to the Cowboys' special teams.

PICK #70 CINCINATTI BENGALS

The Bengals need an Offensive Tackle to shore up their Offensive Line after some offseason losses. Jamon Meredith is a raw tackle with the body and athletic ability to be a left tackle down the line. Some scouts think his frame could carry more weight than the 301 he current brings to bear. He will take some work, but should hang around the league for several years.

PICK #71 OAKLAND RAIDERS

The Silver and Black need receivers who can play. Brian Robiskie was a nice start in the second round. Louis Murphy is a big target with good wheels who was productive in one of the most dynamic offenses in the country.

PICK #72 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

The Jags need a running mate for Maurice Jones Drew. Donald Brown was the nation's leading rusher last year. He is great between tackles, has caught the ball well in workouts, and would be a great change of pace for Jones-Drew.

PICK #73 GREEN BAY PACKERS

The Packers need a Defensive Lineman for their new defensive 3-4 alignment. The best option on the line is Sen'Derrick Marks. He is a medium sized, athletic Defensive Tackle who should be great run stopper at defensive end in the 3-4

PICK #74 SAN FRANCISCO 49ers

The Niners need Receivers who can play right now. Juaguin Iglesias is a great route runner who catches the ball well. He will be a great compliment to Michael Crabtree.

PICK #75 BUFFALO BILLS

With Marshawn Lynch's legal issues unresolved, the Bills need to make a move to support their running back rotation. Fred Jackson is a decent back, but has never been a workhorse. Javon Ringer is one of the unique talents at Running Back this year. He is small and does not have premier speed but he has a low center of gravity and he has a knack for breaking tackles and getting the extra yard.

PICK #76 NEW YORK JETS

The Jets will be retooling at their skill positions in this draft, and they need someone who can make plays in the passing game. Jarrett Dillard is a real worker at Wide Receiver who was ultra-productive in an offense that didn't give him a lot of help.

PICK #77 HOUSTON TEXANS

The Texans need help at safety and Nic Harris is one of the best Strong Safeties in this draft. He is excellent in run support and has the speed to run the middle of the field.

PICK #78 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

The Chargers are solid up and down, but the one spot they don't have premier talent is at Safety. I don't know that Chip Vaughn is going to set the world on fire, but he has great size and speed and should be a force against the run.

PICK #79 DENVER BRONCOS

Whether Jay Cutler comes back or not, the Broncos are going to need another quarterback. Rhett Bomar was a premier talent coming into Oklahoma, and he is still a premier talent on his way out of Sam Houston State. He is rough around the edges, but his experience running a passing offense out of the shotgun should translate well to the offense in Denver.

PICK #80 WASHINGTON REDSKINS

The Skins need talent on the outside of their defense in this draft. They got a nice End in the first round and Marcus Freeman is a great athlete at Outside Linebacker. His is raw and will need coaching, but his talent will put him in their defensive rotation as a rookie.

PICK #81 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

The Bucs are building a new offense adn they need one more playmaker. Brandon Tate brings injury concerns, but he is explosive with the ball in his hands.

PICK #82 DETROIT LIONS

James Davis
is the kind of weapon the Lions haven't had in a lot of years. He won't be an every down back, but he is the kind of back who can put real stress on another team's linebacker corp as a weapon out of the backfield. He is also a dynamic kick returner.

PICK #83 GREEN BAY PACKERS

The Pack has had problems finding a consistent runner the past few years. Ryan Grant had a good year, problem was, that wasn't last year. Andre Brown is a big back with big time wheels. Noone is going to want to tackle him during a November game in the land of Cheese Heads. 6'0" 224 is going to hurt, a lot.

PICK #84 CHICAGO BEARS

The Bears need to bring their Defense back to life. Last year, they did not pressure the Quarterback well, and they need to fix that in a hurry. Anyone who saw the Divsion II Championship games can tell you what a disruptive defensive force that Lawrence Sidbury is. The jump to the NFL will be a leap for him, but he is a big-time penatrator.

PICK #85 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Andrews signing shored them on the Offensive Line short term. Long term, they need an Offensive Tackle for the future. Xavier Fulton is rough technique-wise, but he can really move and his dexterity and coordination are as good as you are going to find at his position. With work, he could be a good Left Tackle in this league.

PICK #86 MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Ramses Barden pick in the 2cnd round was a gamble, picking Derrick Williams in the 3rd round is not. Williams has good speed, great hands, and is a great team player.

PICK #87 MIAMI DOLPHINS

The Fins are not a Bill Parcells team yet. They are much improved, but he loves defense, and their D-Line is no what Bill wants it to be. Terrance Taylor was hidden on a bad team, but he is a legitimate talent for this level.

PICK #88 BALTIMORE RAVENS

The Ravens need corners to play their style of defense. Asher Allen is the best left on the board.

PICK #89 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

The Pats need a safety to pair with Brandon Meriweather. Rashad Johnson moves great with good size. After being coached by onoe of the best seocndary coaches in the world in Nick Saban, he should slide into the Patriots scheme very naturally.

PICK #90 ATLANTA FALCONS

The Mickens pick solidified cornerback, and picking up Derek Pegues will do the same for the safety position in Atlanta.

PICK #91 NEW YORK GIANTS

Up to this point, the G-Men have managed to resist the public outcry for them to draft a Wide Receiver. Aaron Kelly is too good a value to leave on the board. He is a big, fast wide receiver who catches the ball well. He is Plaxico without the attitude and law issues.

PICK #92 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

The Colts have no glaring needs remaining. They play ball a certain way, with hardworkers who don't showboat. Ian Johnson's fast 40 time brought him back into the first day of the draft. He is just the kind of players that the Colts love to have, and his well rounded skill set will fit into their explosive offense well. Oh, and he is smart as a whip, which Peyton should love having him around.

PICK #93 CAROLINA PANTHERS

Carolina runs the ball and Shawn Nelson is a strong run blocker, as well as strong threat in the redzone.

PICK #94 TENNESSEE TITANS

The Titans don't usually draft Wide Receivers high in the draft, but they need one bad this year. Austin Collie has the mindset that Tennessee likes in its players and was ultra-productive. He brings good size, speed, and great hands.

PICK #95 ARIZONA CARDINALS

The cardinals have a great offense, but one thing they don't have is a Tight End. Casey James may be the Tight End that they need. He is not a great blocker, but he is explosive in the passing game and still developing.

PICK #96 PITTSBURGH STEELERS

The loss of Marvel Smith makes the Steelers needs along the Offensive Line even more dire. Fenuki Topou is the best left on the board. He is a massive road grader who will not likely succeed as a left tackle, but he should be a good fit at either Right Tackle or guard, giving the Steelers depth that they were missing along the line.
