Philip Rivers, Who Is He?

Nine years into his career, Chargers fans and NFL fans alike are still trying to figure what to make of Philip Rivers.  His on field intensity has been viewed as both extreme and at times arrogant.  He will forever be compared with two time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning because of the swap of both players  in the 2004 NFL Draft.

His first two seasons were spent on the bench behind Drew Brees but in the 2006-07 season, the reigns were passed to Rivers.  He was to be the charge of the bolts and for some time it looked very promising.

At the time when Rivers took over the team, head coach Marty Schottenheimer made it no secret that the offense was to go through the best player on the planet (at the time) Ladanian Tomlinson.     The following season, even with new head coach Norv Turner, the offense still decided to run through L.T. It wasn't until 2008 that Philip Rivers showed the world what he could do.  With Ladanian Tomlinson not producing as much, Rivers stepped up to the plate with his first 4000 yard passing season, coupled with 34 touchdown passes.
