Those are the names of the 25 different starting quarterbacks that have donned the Burgundy and Gold since 1985. Robert Griffin III is the 26th different starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins since November 18, 1985. That was the night the Redskins quarterback quandary began. Joe Theismann had been the Redskins starter since 1978. The Redskins enjoyed a lot of success with Joe under center.

Washington would make 2 Super Bowl appearances, winning 1, with Joe at the helm. But on that fateful fall night, at RFK Stadium, Theismann's gruesome leg injury ended his very good career and leaving the Redskins scrambling to find his replacement. Amazingly enough the Redskins managed to win 2 Super Bowls shortyly after Theismann's injury.
