Torii Hunter signs with Detroit Tigers

Although Torii Hunter didn't officially kick off free agency for Major League Baseball, he certainly has made the biggest impact so far. The 37 year old right-fielder finally got out of Los Angeles and back to the

American League Central Division by signing a two year contract with the Detroit Tigers yesterday. The contract is reportedly worth $26 million.

Hunter, a nine-time Golden Glove winner, is expected to bat second in the powerful Tigers' lineup. He hit .343 with an .854 on-base percentage in 381 plate appearances batting second for the Angels in 2012.

He hit a career high .313 with 16 homers and 92 RBI's last year, and is a career .277 hitter with 297 homers, 1,143 RBI and 1,068 runs.

Hunter's familiarity with the Central league will help ease him in to his role as a right fielder in the confines of Comerica Park. The only visiting player to have played more games at the Tiger's home ballpark is Chicago White Sox DH Paul Konerko.
