Greinke signs, Will that open the door for a Dickey Trade???

The Dodgers and Zack Greinke have agreed to a six-year, $147-million contract, how will this effect the Mets?

The Pitching Market Officially Opens!  The teams that wanted Greinke will chase the next level of available pitchers either by trade (James Shields or R.A. Dickey).. or go the Lohse way out in free agents..

In the next few days there should be a flourish of new Dickey Rumors afloat..

Multiple teams remain interested in trading for R.A. Dickey, though it's possible the Mets will keep him heading into 2013 even if he doesn't agree to an extension.

The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner is reportedly seeking two years and $26MM on top of the $5MM he's owed next season. According to multiple reports the Mets are only offering $10 Million a year, for two..

Do the Mets make the splash on a contract for Dickey??

The Mets and Dickey have "established common ground" on the length and structure of an extension according to Marc Carig of Newsday.

The team has given the knuckleballer the flexibility to choose among several options, though money remains a sticking point.

Which leads me to believe the Mets are ready to play hardball and pull the trigger on the highest bidder for Dickey..

Who is in Dickey Trade Sweepstakes??

Don't count the Dodgers out...The Dodgers have Speedster SS Dee Gordan as well as RHP Aaron Harang available (not enticing).. The Mets can take Dee Gordan and spin him to another team..They also have pitching prospect Zach Lee.. The Dodgers believe it or not want Dickey even though they have Greinke.. They want both.

The Texas Rangers who recently have lost out on Greinke can try and trade for Dickey. 3B prospect Mike Olt has been mentioned. The Mets can trade Olt for much valuable real estate if so desired.. There has been talk of Olt playing the outfield..

The Blue Jays who have catching prospects in Travis d’Arnaud or J.P. Arencibia. They also have been mentioning OF Anthony Gose...

The Diamondbacks who have OF Justin Upton.. enough said.. Diamondbacks are looking for a shortstop, maybe SS Dee Gordan (see Dodgers) can help land Upton with something else the Mets have to offer?

The Red Sox can try and make a splash with the two prospects outfield Jackie Bradley Jr. and shortstop Xander Boegarts.. Noted the Mets have been turned down..

The idea of the Royals trading Top Prospect OF Wil Myers for Dickey seems impractical, but funnier things have happened..

So the ground work has been set for Alderson, Let's see how Dickey becomes a factor now or in July (if he pitches for the Mets with or without an extension).

My Prediction is he will be traded now to whatever the fit the best of their needs.

I would like the Mets to get Diamondback OF Justin Upton some how, but I also would not mind if the Mets can pull a deal for one of the catchers from the Blue Jays..

Let's Go Mets!, Go Get Em' Sandy!
