Saints player tears into Steve Spagnuolo

Anyone with a one-third of a brain noticed that the New Orleans Saints’ defense was not right this year.

The pressure of the Bounty Gate scandal certainly hung over their head.

The team didn’t lose one snap of playing time from the player suspensions.

All players were allowed to play out the appeals process.

Jonathan Vilma, win, lose or draw was dealing with injuries that sidelined him regardless of the conflict.

The truth is, middle linebacker Curtis Lofton did work out as planned and new defensive coordinator

Steve Spagnuolo did not deploy his players correctly based on their skill sets.

Despite the obvious it was not suspected that anyone would step up and discuss it.

There has been enough drama down by the bayou.

Yet, discuss it they have as an anonymous player discussed how the unit felt with the Times-Picayune.

“Trust me all the guys were being politically correct this season when answering questions,” the player said. “It’s bad.”

“To give up what we gave up can’t be all talent,” he said.  ”Look at where his units (have) been ranked before. I think one top 10?”

“Players have no say in anything,” the player said. “It was (a) complete opposite from before where it was a simple D that players had lot of control and say. We couldn’t suggest (expletive)…Nothing ever changed. It was his way only.

“Don’t even get me started on lack (of) ability to adjust during games. Bad, bad, bad.”

“He does have that good-guy persona, but he is a control freak and treats people like crap,” the player said. (Spagnuolo has) no patience and zero personality. (He) has a way of pissing players and our defensive coaches off with how he says and does things. (I) think it’s even harder after having (former defensive coordinator) Gregg (Williams), who guys enjoyed.”

Well then, tell us how you really feel. The player  went on to state that the DC should have been one of Monday’s lengthy list of coaching casualties.

At some point for this team to heal everybody needs to lay low, regroup and allow the world to accept them as the 2013 Saints and not the group that’s still focused on what happened in 2012.
