Vikings Chris Kluwe On Gay Players In Football: You’d Be Surprised

Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe is an advocate of free speech and simple human rights.  He is a supporter of gay rights, and is known in several circles for the letter he wrote after a politician attacked gay marriage.

Kluwe ended up on the Colbert Report Tuesday night because of his outspoken nature ability to talk about anything.  According to Larry Brown Sports, Kluwe was asked about gay players in football.

Kluwe hinted to Colbert that “there are more gay players than you think.”  When Colbert referenced the topic, Kluwe responded with “you’d be surprised.”

I’d be shocked the day a homosexual football player came out of the closet, or admitted their sexual preference while still being a player.

To so many football is the manliest of sports, ultimate judge of masculinity.  People say all the time that they’d support a gay teammate until faced with it.

No I wouldn’t be surprised to find out there were gay football players, I’d be surprised to find out they openly admitted
