Arkansas Head Coach Bret Bielema takes Shots at Nick Saban

New Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema turned quite a few heads when he decided to leave the Big Ten power he ad built in Wisconsin, to take his talents down south in SEC country at Arkansas. But now that he is officially there, he is ready to make some noise.

And not just necessarily on the field. According to David Hendrix Jr. of Hootens.com, Bielema had this to say about the SEC and Alabama coach Nick Saban.
“The reason the SEC is talked about all the time is one team, because of their dominance. But I didn’t come here to play Alabama. I came here to beat Alabama.
“You can take Saban’s record when he was at Michigan State and when he was a coach in the Big Ten and put it against mine, and he can’t compare.”
Bielema compiled a 68-24 record in six seasons at Wisconsin. Saban led the Michigan State Spartans to a 34-24 record in his 5 seasons in East Lansing. So perhaps Bielema does have a point, but it is worth noting that Saban took over a Spartans program in 1995 that hadn’t had a winning season since 1990.

But we live in a what have you done fo me lately world. Saban’s record and success at Alabama speaks for itself, so if Bielema really wants to take control of the SEC, what Saban did in the Big Ten is irrelevant.
