Cowboys Stadium gets first NCAA Playoff title game.

Starting in 2014, the NCAA will be bringing something new to the table, the College Football Playoff. The first collegiate playoff title game will take place at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on January 12, 2015.

The Fiesta, Cotton and Chick-fil-A Bowls will join the Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowls in a six-bowl rotation which will be the new playoff semifinals.

The cities of Tampa, Florida and Arlington were the two options for the title game because both stadiums in those particular cities can hold more than 100,000 fans.

Back-to-back tripleheaders will be the unique feature on New Year’s eve (Cotton, Orange, Fiesta Bowls) and January 1 (Chick-fil-A, Rose and Sugar).

The executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Rob Higgins, said Tampa will bid again for the future 2016 and 2017 title games.
