2016 TRS Football Rankings - Week 4

Let's be honest.  Can we do that for a second?

Preseason rankings are GARBAGE.  Like most piles of garbage, you may be able to find a useful bit or 2, but it's still a pile of garbage.

So, I waited to weigh in till I had some data.
What have we learned?

Well, Bama is who we thought they were.

Clemson is young.

Jimbo's defense still can't handle a mobile QB.

Oh, and the Big 12......yeah sorry boys.

Needless to say, 3 weeks in gives us a much better picture of what we are looking at than we had 4 weeks ago.  So, here is my first release of the TRS college football rankings.

1. "THE" OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
I keep hearing about how young these kids are.  How thank goodness they have TJ Barrett.
Don't get me wrong, Barrett has proven himself to be a find QB, at times a star.  But....these kids are good.  Urban Meyer can recruit, and he can coach, and he knows how to put together a staff.  That OU game was a statement.

2. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE
Speaking of statements.  Bama made one that seemed huge when they put an absolute beat down on USC, however that win has tarnished in the following weeks.  No slight to Bama, they are the champs till someone beats them, but USC is not as good as advertised.....as illustrated by their lack of a line item in this list.

3. LOUISVILLE CARDINALS
While we are talkinga bout statements.....damn.
I caught their bowl game last year so I knew Lamar could play, but to do that to an FSU team.  To give them their worst loss in the history of their progream?  Yup, that was a coming out party.

4. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES
I have a confession to make.  I have seen very little of the wolverines.  This ranking is based on record and schedule.  That said, they are loaded and well coached.  Toss in a chip since they are chasing their rival for respect and this is a team to watch.

5. HOUSTON COUGARS
This is what happens when a team from a recruiting hotbed gets a top flute mind as a coach.  You win a bit and keep a few more blue chippers and you have something going.
What's the over/under on when they are in the Big 12?

6. STANFORD CARDINAL
I have a feeling that their win over K-State is going to look better as the season goes on.  They have some explosive talent to go with the big boys that they always seem to have.  Keep an eye on the Cardinal.

7. TEXAS A&M AGGIES
2 decent wins have the aggies sneaking into a surprisingly high spot.  Can Kevin Sumlin keep them rolling or have they peaked?  We will know soon enough.

8. WASHINGTON HUSKIES
The Huskies haven't played anyone yet, but they have done what a good team should do in that case.  They have flat out waxed everyone to this point.  Are they real or just gobbling up cream puffs.

9. MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS
The Spartans looked shaky against Furman but that win over Note Dame was no joke.  Danton in can sure coach em up.

10. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS
Surprise Surprise Surprise
The Husker have 2 blow out wins a nice win over a ranked Oregon team.  I don't think they will be this high at the end but in a crazy first few weeks, they have handled their business.

11. CLEMSON TIGERS
12. BAYLOR BEARS
13. OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS
14. GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS
15. BOISE STATE BRONCOS
16. WISCONSIN BADGERS
17. FLORIDA GATORS
18. CENTRAL MICHIGAN CHIPPEWAS
19. INDIANA
20.. TEXAS LONGHORNS
21. ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS
22. UTAH UTES
23. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS
24. MIAMI HURRICANES
25. MARYLAND TERRAPINS
26. KANSAS STATE WILDCATS
27. MEMPHIS TIGERS
28. NORTH CAROLINA TARHEELS
29. FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES
30. SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS
