Nasri believes team spirit is the key to City success

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri believes team spirit is the key to his side’s chances of remaining unbeaten and successfully defending their Barclays premier league title.

After being signed by the Eastlands club last summer, the Frenchman immediately established himself in the Citizens’ squad, as they went on to win their first title for over 40 years thanks Sergio Aguero’s dramatic strike in the final moments of the season.

Their success led many pundits and fans alike to suggest that their extra experience would see them become even stronger this campaign and dominate at both home and abroad.

This has not been the case though and a number of disappointing domestic displays have been compounded by a shocking run of results in the Champions League, with them taking just one point from their opening three group matches.

This has led to rumours of unrest within the City dressing room, with speculation that some of the bigger names at the club are starting to grow tired of boss Roberto Mancini’s negative tactics.

However, despite their disappointing performances and falling behind rivals United in the latest odds  for the league, the Citizens remain unbeaten in the league so far this term and Nasri believes a strong team spirit can see them to more glory this season.

“I don't know if we will stay unbeaten. I know we have the quality to stay unbeaten but all of us have to think this way,” he said. "When we go out on the pitch we should think we will win. With the quality we have if we are sure of it, if we run for each other and fight for each other we can do it.
"The good thing is we didn't lose a game still in the Premier League and we have to continue on this point."
