Beltran Opens 300/300 Club for Switch Hitters

St. Louis Cardinals' Carlos Beltran Enters 300/300 Club

Last night Carlos Beltran became the first switch hitter in Major League Baseball to steal 300 bases to go along with at least 300 career homeruns.
He is the eighth overall player to join the 300/300 club. The other members being: Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Alex Rodriguez, Andre Dawson, Bobby Bonds, Reggie Sanders, and Steve Finley.
Beltran's 300th stolen base came in the second inning of last nights game against the team he started his career with, and won the 1999 AL rookie of the year award with, the Kansas City Royals. Beltran's career came in full circle last night by playing the Royals for the first time in his career. Second base was removed from Busch Stadium last night as a keepsake for Beltran and he is considering giving his spikes from last nights game to Cooperstown.

I came across the above blurb and it got me thinking.  Is Carlos Beltran a hall of fame caliber player?  He has been a stud his whole career, but he has never really lead a team to anything.  Is that a pre-requisite for HoF consideration?  If you look at that list, you have to think that he will get consideration, especially if he can play another half dozen years and make that 400/400.

I hope for his sake, he can get a title and solidify it, but for now, it's a fun thought.
