RB Ladainian Tomlinson Will Sign to Retire a Charger
It's time to say goodbye to one of the class acts in the NFL. You can say what you want about his lack of a title, this guy carried his team, and did it all at the running back position. He did that, while stayin gout of the news. No arrests, no Steroids, just yards and touchdowns.Running Back and Charger great Ladainian Tomlinson will end his storied career after 11 seasons in the NFL, nine of which were spent with the Chargers. He was drafted by the Chargers with the fifth overall pick. (Chargers originally picked in the number one and traded down with the Atlanta Falcons).
The future Hall of Fame back leaves the league after a legendary list of achievements that he completed in his 11 years. Tomlinson was selected to the Pro-Bowl five times, was an All-Pro six, he won two rushing titles (2006, 2007), NFL Most Valuable Player honors, and Associated Press Offensive Player of Year award. Tomlinson is fifth of the All-Time rushing leaders (all those above inducted to Hall of Fame) with 13,684 yards on the ground and scored 162 regular season touchdowns. The only two players who have more being Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith. Tomlinson still holds the record for single season rushing touchdowns with 29.
Tomlinson ended the last two years of his career with the New York Jets after turbulence with G.M A.J Smith that made the superstar and the team part ways.
Tomlinson will sign his ceremonious one day contract and announce his retirement from the NFL midday tomorrow. The NFL and Charger fans everywhere will remember him as one of the best to ever play the game and wear a blue and yellow jersey.
