The writing may be on the wall for St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson.
CBSSports.com is reporting that even though Jackson didn’t reach incentives to void out the final two years of his contract, the Rams will allow him to void his final season, 2013 anyway, which means Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent this off-season.
Jackson has been with the Rams since being drafted in the first round out of Oregon State in 2004.
The Rams are basically allowing Jackson, who will be 30 soon, to walk away for absolutely nothing at the end of this season.
Question now is will the Rams address their running back needs via the draft, or hand the reins to someone such as Daryl Richardson.
Another intriguing question is what will Jackson’s value be on the open market.
Jackson is a good runner and good teammate, but I’m sure many are wondering what he has left.
