Although the Jaguars struck out this past offseason in their attempt to land Tim Tebow, they’re reportedly swinging for the fences ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.
The website, which represents two local TV stations, is working to get confirmation from owner Shahid Khan, who’s said that he would have drafted Tebow.
However, the report is far from concrete. This particular site isn’t known to scoop the national outlets, two of which have already debunked potential trade rumors.
Still, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, especially with the Jets. New York has failed to properly utilize Tebow this season — leading to rumblings that he’s unhappy — and his presence alone creates more
unneeded drama for an organization spiraling toward mediocrity.
Moreover, the move would make a ton of sense for Khan, a businessman whose top priority is putting more butts in the seats of EverBank Field. Snagging Tebow, a verifiable legend in northern Florida, would certainly do just that.
With less than 48 hours until the deadline, we’ll quickly find out whether this report has legs or is pure conjecture. If it’s the former … well, we’ll be in for an interesting week.
