Jets running back Shonn Greene wants Tebow

On Wednesday, members of the New York Jets locker room semi-shocked the world with their shots against backup quarterback Tim Tebow.

Since that initial salvo, various members of the team (including Tebow) have weighed in on the matter but nobody’s words seem to feel as honest as running back Shonn Greene’s.

Greene stepped way out on the ledge when he spoke with Yahoo Sports and took a reverse course from the feelings that dominate the bulk of the Jets’ roster.

“Something’s got to change,” Greene said. “When you get to the point where you’re 3-6, and losing and losing, a couple of guys are like, ‘Oh, what would happen [if Tebow played]?’ But guys at the same time have faith in Mark, so it’s kind of an up-and-down thing.

“You feel bad for Mark, but at the same time you want to win games. We’re not here to protect people’s feelings. If you want to win games, you’ve got to try something. If somebody’s not getting the job done, you see if somebody else can do it. It’s the same with coaching, or any position. You don’t mean to belittle someone or say ‘he sucks.’ That’s just the harsh reality.”

The real harsh reality is that the more people that speak, the more this franchise implodes.
Greene is expected to clarify these remarks on Thursday but to be honest it feels like he is backpedaling under pressure.

Now on to the subject of his verbiage.

Not that it is his fault, but Tim Tebow is the worst thing that could have happened to the New York Jets.
As we saw last year, the Jets were already a fractured mess.

To bring in the most divisive player in the history of the NFL since Michael Vick only set the stage for drama to the highest degree.

There may have been a school of thought there that Tebow could come in and help this volatile bunch learn how to heal.

The fact is that these personalities as a unit were beyond saving well over a year ago and Tebow’s arrival only accelerated yet another epic meltdown which was already in motion.

The core truth we may never find out, but as more players and staffers speak out, we begin to see who is cool with whom and where the fissures have been split for some time now.
