2016 TRS Football Rankings - Week 6

And now we start to see the gold begin to be sifted from the rocks.

The pretenders are being exposed, the luck is running out, and mental toughness is being exposed.

1. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

'The' Buckeyes played a solid Indiana team who was coming in on a high after beating Michigan State.  I think it says enough that it seemed close for an Ohio State game because they only won by 20.

Urban Meyer has these Buckeyes ready to play every week.  They come out hungry and with an edge.  If he can sustain that with these young kids, they have a great shot.

2. WASHINGTON HUSKIES

Washington just made a big announcement.  Oregon and Stanford are no longer the class of the PAC.

Admittedly, Oregon is down, but to beat them by 49 points?  Damn.

Jake Browning has been tremendously accurate and they put lot of speed on the field.  That's a good combination for an offense.  To be honest, their point differential is what has them just a hair ahead of of Clemson, but they sure look like the real deal.

3. CLEMSON TIGERS

Clemson did to BC exactly what a top 5 team should do to this year's BC team.

This game was over before we got to the second quarter.  No great kudos for beating a team that you should beat, but this could have been a let down game following up an emotional win over Louisville.

4. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Bama was ready for a challenge.  Unfortunately, the Hogs were not the team to give them one.

This game was not as close as it looks on the scoreboard and that's with the Tide Rolling (haha) by 19.  They have the toughest stretch of their season coming up though, so we get to see if this is a good team, or the favorite for the title.

5. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

Sorry Rutgers.

6. TEXAS AM AGGIES

The Aggies made the same mistake that Tennessee opponents have made all year.  They got ahead and they coasted.

You cannot let up.  These young Volunteers believe that they can win any game, regardless of the score.  Do not let up till you finish it.

What the Aggies did not do, is pay for letting up.  They have a potent rushing attack, and a leader at QB, and they get to visit Bama this week.  This is a big game, but the Aggies are going to have to play better than they did against Tennessee.

If they do that, we get to watch all hell break loose with the playoff picture.

7. LOUISVILLE CARDINALS

Louisville had a Bye for that Clemson loss to soak in, and stew.

I feel kind of bad for Duke, cuz they are about to take a beating....sorry make that BEATING.  I have a feeling it will be worth capital letters.

8. HOUSTON COUGARS

Do you remember what I was saying last week?

Something about Houston needing to focus on not having a letdown while they build towards their showdown with Louisville.

Yeah, that loss to Navy...that was a letdown.

That said, this is still a dangerous team, who has done big things, so they didn't drop too far.  The problem is, they are going to continue to drop as they play their weak conference schedule.

9. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS

Tennessee, there are 4 quarters.  Your fans would very much appreciate it if you would play in the first half of games as well.

Thanks

10. VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES

Wait who?  But Beamer retired......

Yeah, the Hokies aren't bad.  Since looking so bad against Tennessee, they have played some very good football and are in the driver's seat for a spot in the ACC title game.  Looking at their scheudle, it is very possible that they make it there with 1 loss, and unbeaten in conference.

Clemson, Louisville, and FSU.....yeah, they aren't on the schedule.  Miami is, but the rest I would expect them to be favorites in.

Yeah, sorry Notre Dame, but you aren't scaring people right now.
